Exhibiting security, aesthetics and ease of use, six lanes of Centurion EasyGate LX from Centaman Entrance Control have been installed at 321 Exhibition Street in Melbourne.
Built in 1990, the building has undergone a $32,000,000 refurbishment to transform it into a multi tenanted office building with Origin Energy as the new anchor tenant.
An integrated access control system, lift destination control system and turnstile solution was required as part of the refurbishment to limit access to only authorised occupants and visitors. Additionally, this technology was installed to help speed up pedestrian movement in to and up through the building.
A Schindler Port access and lift destination control system was integrated with Centurion EasyGate LX speedgates. This allows staff to scan their card at the turnstile, which would then direct them to the next available lift going to their specific floor. This is completed while verifying they have authority to access the building at that specific time.
The Centurion EasyGate LX speed gate uses glass barriers of up to 1.8m in height combined with state-of-the-art optical technology, providing high throughput and security. The bi-directional glass barriers remain closed until a valid card has been presented to allow the authorised user to pass.
The access control barriers will close quickly behind the authorised person to deter tailgaters, however; IR sensors monitor the lane to detect unauthorised entry, thus ensuring the safety of users.
The Schindler PORT display and reader were custom built in to the EasyGate pedestals to ensure ease of use to the tenants of 321 Exhibition Street.
Michael Bystram, Entrance Control Manager at Centaman explained, “The integration of the Schindler PORT displays and the EasyGate turnstiles was key to ensuring a high speed, easy to use and secure access and lift destination control solution that gets people in to and through the building as fast as possible to achieve the throughput levels demanded by Cromwell Property Group who own and manage 321 Exhibition Street.”
