St Peter’s Lutheran College, Indooroopilly, one of Queensland’s most famous schools, is using Caroma Smartflush toilets to cut its water use and reduce maintenance costs.
The school had an annual water consumption of over 41 million litres per year before it installed 200 Caroma Trident Sovereign 2000 Toilets featuring award-winning Caroma Smartflush water-saving technology.
The investment was driven by the need to conform to the Queensland State Government’s Water Efficiency Management Plan (WEMP). The program was introduced to help secure adequate water supply for Brisbane and surrounding areas that are still under medium level water restrictions.
The WEMP program heightens enforcement of the existing water laws and implements a number of long-term strategies to maximise water recycling and reduce unnecessary water wastage for businesses. It ensures water users of more than one million litres per year have water efficient appliances, such as low-flow taps, trigger sprays, showerheads, urinals and cooling towers in place.
St Peter’s Lutheran College Building Manager Garry Evans, who is responsible for the retrofit, said the school sought expert advice from the University of Queensland as well as several independent water conservation specialists before deciding on the Caroma Trident Sovereign toilets for the entire school.
Caroma Trident Sovereign 2000 Units comply with the WEMP program. They help in creating a clean environment with an emphasis on energy and water saving as well as ease of maintenance.
