The CSR Hebel System 50 Plus, Acoustic Wall System won the product/service category award at the recent 2001 Excellence in Construction Awards.
“Hebel has been working with customers to understand their building issues, in particular construction issues around acoustic walls. This has provided the opportunity for Hebel to continue to develop products to meet the ongoing demand for a high performance acoustic wall for multi-residential construction,” said Will Trickett, National Sales Manager for CSR Hebel.
CSR Hebel will be releasing monthly project fact sheets, highlighting their fast growing portfolio of multi-residential architectural projects. Many of the projects profiled feature the award-winning Acoustic Wall System.
This month’s fact sheet describes The Hudson, a development designed by architect Tim Beattie of Allen, Jack and Cottier. Tim chose CSR Hebel wall panels for the 272 new units in the Sydney suburb of Alexandria because of its lightweight nature, acoustic qualities and excellent fire rating standards.
In the re-fit of the three new buildings, 75mm thick wall panels were erected floor to ceiling internally as party walls and 150mm thick panels were placed floor to ceiling externally. “One of the four towers is sited in an existing converted warehouse, and the age of the warehouse determined that a lightweight construction was needed, so we recommended Hebel wall panels,” said Tim. “The wall panels proved most effective in providing the desired acoustic and fire ratings and were easier to work with than traditional methods.”
CSR Hebel has been used in the construction of some of the country’s most striking landmarks including Sydney’s Cockle Bay Wharf, the Canberra Playhouse Theatre, Wollongong Entertainment Centre and Sydney’s Broadway shopping complex.
Copies of The Hudson project sheets detailing the design and building process will go live onto http://www.csr.com.au/hebel and be distributed shortly.
