CR Kennedy established by Clement Robertson Kennedy, started its operation in 1934 by importing a wide range of photographic, optical lines from Italy and Germany. CR Kennedy was the only Australian agent of Rectaflex camera and it also got Exacta agency in 1948 from Zeiss Jena. CR Kennedy was a long lasting distributor of Asahi Pentax followed by Elmo and LPL.
CR Kennedy began its surveying division in 1969 with Fuji, which is presently named as Pentax. The surveying equipment from CR Kennedy includes theodolites, levels, electronic distance measuring equipment etc. In 1979, CR Kennedy became the distributor of JOBO, who manufacture darkroom equipment in Germany.
CR Kennedy proved its market by distributing and improving the sales of photographic lines from Hasselblad, Sweden in 1980. CR Kennedy started its medical division in 1981, offering video endoscopes and flexible fibreoptics from Pentax. CR Kennedy has won a number of prestigious awards for its extraordinary service in the industry.
