Despite a weak Australian economy and new home build market, CEDIA , the electronic expo held in Brisbane from May 9-11 was extremely successful.

CEDIA is the only trade show dedicated to electronic systems professionals. The show enables them to develop their technical, installation and business skills and showcase innovative product solutions to improve market opportunities.

The expo featured a diverse range of electronics exhibitors and keynote addresses that ranged from electronic technologies in home healthcare, the cloud to consumer age and technology in consumer trends.

Dave Pedigo, Senior Director of Technology at CEDIA also delivered an insightful presentation that addressed emerging electronic technologies and applications that will usher in the era of the intuitive home in the next 5 – 10 years.

The electronic expo attracted over 4,700 attendees for both CEDIA and Build and Design Queensland Expo, with over 50% of those participants being first timers and 70% of them being the decision-makers.

The decision to partner with another industry exhibition was particularly beneficial, as it attracted building designers, architects, specifiers, interior designers and other key industry partners to the CEDIA expo.

The electronic expo also co-located with the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) 2012 National Architecture Conference, which saw architects filter through onto the CEDIA show floor over the course of the three days.

In total, 15 new education courses, 19 presentations in the Future Technologies Area and 33 Manufacturer Product Training sessions were run throughout CEDIA.

Although visitor’s numbers were down from the 2011 electronic expo, exhibitors were nevertheless extremely pleased by the quality of attendees.

Furthermore, attendees were pleased with the efforts of exhibitors and organisers in their ability to deliver yet another informative and insightful expo.

Deb Noller, Exhibitor, Switch Automation explains “Despite the smaller number of exhibitors, the show was all quality from the exhibitors to the attendees…… Congratulations to the small hardworking crew over at CEDIA on a grand show.”

Meanwhile, show attendee Damian Cavanagh, Electronic Living noted “you guys did a magnificent job with the expo once again & we appreciate all your dedication & hard work. We are very lucky to have you supporting our industry, a job very well done!”

The team at CEDIA are looking to the 2013 expo and they plan to continue to develop opportunities with other associations and/or shows to increase awareness of their unique expo.
