CASF has congratulated Paul de Podolinsky of Gray Puksand Architects for being the winner of the Corian Design Award - Edition 1, Commercial Category 2007.
Paul has been awarded for his design work in Middletons Melbourne. Paul created a unique, sculptural look with Corian.
The design objective at Middletons Melbourne was to use a palette of minimalist abstract elements, enhanced by the use of colour and light as physical design forms to encapsulate and mould the space.
Paul’s vision came to life with a sculptural reception desk creating a feature piece in the space in Corian Glacier White.
Corian was also used in the brochure stand, phone shelf, lift lobby feature walls, credenza units and breakout benches – showing how versatile the product is.
“We chose Corian as it enabled the design objectives of pure object and form to be achieved in a monolithic finish to large scale complex sculptural objects and panel wall surfaces alike, whilst providing robust surfaces to achieve longevity and maintain a continued effect of quality”, says Paul.
“Watching the fabricator sculpt the reception desk into a monolithic object highlights the ability of Corian to be moulded, as a large scale monolithic finish in any shape required. In the progression of developing these types of shapes we continuously turn to Corian to achieve a uniform, hard wearing and sophisticated solution.” Paul adds.
