With zero tail swing and retractable tracks, CASE’s new CX17B compact excavator is built to work in tight spaces, making it a suitable machine for a wide range of jobs from landscaping to interior demolition work.

“The retractable tracks ensure the CX17B stands out from its competition,” explained Blake Irwin, CASE Product Manager.

“Operators can simply retract the tracks for convenient access through gates as narrow as 990mm and then expand the tracks out for greater stability during normal machine operation.

“On top of this, because of its zero tail swing, the CX17B sustains less damage from the surroundings on tight sites and will cause less damage than conventional tail overhang machines,” Blake added.

Featuring a small footprint and the ability to turn 360 degrees without any part of the upper structure extending beyond the extended tracks, the CX17B can dig next to fences, buildings and other obstructions with ease.

Net engine power of 15 Hp (11.3kW) and a maximum bucket size of 36 litres, ensures the CX17B has the power and capacity to undertake a wide range of tasks.

With a maximum dig depth of 2.15m and a maximum reach of 3.68m, the CX17B also features many of the attributes of its larger cousins such as smooth, easy to operate pilot controls to ensure operator comfort and productivity.

The CX17B also features a number of enhancements over the previous model including increased operating weight and hydraulic flow. Operating weight has been increased by eight percent over the previous model to 1,700 kg, while fuel capacity has increased by 10% for longer operation on site.

“Maximum performance and control is assured with increased hydraulic flow delivered via an integrated three pump system normally seen on CASE compact excavators,” Blake explained. “With a higher operating pressure of 216 bar, greater torque allows for easy operation of attachments such as post hole diggers.”

A three-post ROPs canopy guarantees operators safety, while ensuring easy access to and from the cab. The ROPS can also be removed and replaced for access through gates and garages.

The CX17B takes the CASE compact excavator line to five models with operating weights ranging from 1.7 to 5 tonne.
