Briggs Veneers celebrates their centenary this year

The
Briggs group of
timber companies commenced operation as saw-millers in the Dorrigo area (NSW) in 1908, and started veneer milling in 1936, producing fine veneers from Australian species for interior and marine grade plywood.
Owned and operated as a fourth generation Briggs family business, we take pride in continuing with the original tradition of old fashioned personal service, expertise and integrity, combined with providing market leadership in releasing new products, such as the recently released eco-cert™ range of sustainable certified veneers.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all our customers and specifiers for their business throughout the years, and look forward to “our new century” in continuing to work with you all.

The founder’s son, George Briggs, is the man in the dark suit third from the left, next to him in the paler suit (looking very smart!) is our Melbourne sales manager. Interestingly, all of this forest (The Wild Cattle Creek State Forest) has remained since this time, and much of it, despite 70 years of regular harvest, has been converted to National Park, illustrating just how long ago Australia instituted sustainable and sound forestry practices.
