CSR’s Bradcore - insulation and technical rockwool in China
CSR Panels business, Bradcore , has celebrated the construction of its Rokcore plant in Guangzhou, southern China, with an official opening by The Hon. Ian Campbell, Federal Minister for the Environment and Heritage Resources. He was joined by the Managing Director of CSR Limited, Mr Alec Brennan and senior Chinese government officials.
At a cost of around A$20 million, the new plant will produce 500,000 square metres per annum of Rokcore panels. Rokcore is composed of a structural rockwool insulation core bonded to high quality zinc coated steel sheet facings. The panels are ideal for facades, internal walls and ceilings. They also provide high quality thermal insulation and fire resistance.
John Hodgkinson, CSR’s Executive General Manager Insulation and Panel Systems said, “The sales of Rokcore panels have grown rapidly in Australia and New Zealand. Sales commenced in 2004, after we signed with Paroc Panel Systems to distribute their patented panels in Australasia and Asia. Since then, we have supplied these panels systems to several large scale projects, such as: the Castle Hill Homemaker Centre, Sydney, which was 5,500m2; IKEA Adelaide; and University of Southern Queensland, Brisbane.”
Mark White, General Manager Bradcore Panel Systems said, ”The Rokcore panels plant in Guangzhou will provide us with a cost effective supply of high quality panel solutions, with short supply lead times to the Australia, New Zealand and Asian markets. In anticipation of continued strong growth, the plant has been designed with the ability to be upgraded to 1 million square metres per annum.”
CSR is also investing in a second phase project on an adjoining site, to build its fifth high technology rockwool plant in the Asia Pacific region. This plant will supply the insulation core for the Rokcore panels and will meet existing and growing demand for industrial and commercial insulation applications in the region, replacing CSR’s existing Dongguan plant in Southern China.
“These two investments in Southern China further reinforce our strong position in value add insulation and technical rockwool in China,” John Hodgkinson added.
