Lleyton Hewitt’s got one. So does Martina Hingis. But it’s not just tennis greats who can have Australia’s best tennis court surface in their own back yard.
Most Australians know Rebound Ace, available through AV Syntec , as the tennis court surface used at the Australian Open, the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and other major tennis venues.
What some may not know is that Rebound Ace produces a range of tennis court surfaces for all levels of play including recreational play.
Rebound Ace Sports’ export and technical director, Paul Bull, says there are five different surfaces in the Rebound Ace range. At one end of the scale are the surfaces provided at the Australian Open and other championship tournaments. At the other end are surfaces that are ideal for people in training or for those who just enjoy a social game at home.
All Rebound Ace surfaces are composed of multiple layers of cushioning material, including Nike Grind and other recycled rubber, plus sophisticated sealers, adhesives and topcoats. They are durable, weather and ultraviolet resistant, and low maintenance. They can also reduce leg, ligament and lower-back injuries.
“Our popular and newest surface, Rebound Ace Air Cushion, is widely recognised for reducing injuries and improving player performance because of its unique, multi-layered cushion design,” Bull says. “It also provides players with a choice in surface pace, from slow to fast, in line with ITF international standards”.
“It provides a high level of player comfort, reduces stress on the body and allows players to play longer. It is also the answer to the development of junior players in that it provides a surface on which all styles of play can be developed better than any other surface, but with low maintenance cost and all weather playability.”
The surface is also ideal for Australians with old and deteriorating tennis courts who have been inspired to get back out on their court. Rebound Ace’s Air Cushion can be laid over existing tennis court surfaces, including clay, indoor carpet, synthetic grass and asphalt, at very economical rates.
“Traditionally, resurfacing old courts has been an expensive exercise, but the new Air Cushion is a cost-effective alternative. It’s also an ideal surface for new courts,” Bull says.
Rebound Ace has become the most favoured hard court system with tennis players around the world. Since 1988, every Australian Open Grand Slam tournament has been played on Rebound Ace, and today it is the choice for major tournaments, international hotels and resorts, clubs, sports centres, governments and private residences in over 40 countries.
