Friday, October 30, is the last call for entries for the conceptual residential design award program for architects, building designers and architectural students. The Boral Design Award is closing and calls for last chance entries.
The Boral Design Award, an initiative created to allow students and established architect to showcase their talents and push the boundaries by utilising a whole site, incorporating a 150sqm family home and its landscape
For their design concepts, entrants are asked to specify from a range of selected Boral products including clay bricks, concrete pavers, retaining walls, roof tiles and timber. The design must demonstrate a commitment to sustainable design principles.
Glenn Simpkin, Boral General Manager of Marketing & Sales, said the Boral Design Award aims to promote innovative concepts in realistic residential design and an exploration of the full potential of Boral products to achieve this.
Boral will reward the winning submissions with cash prizes totalling $34,000. In the professional category, first prize is $20,000 and second prize is $10,000. In the student category, first prize is $4,000.
This year, the jury of esteemed industry representatives includes Drew Heath of Drew Heath Architects in Sydney, Nick Drougas from Stocklands in Melbourne, James Russell of James Russell Architects in Brisbane, Glenn Simpkin from Boral and Jury Chair Andrew Mackenzie, editor-in-chief of Architectural Review magazine.
Boral Design Award entrants must submit a written component and digital imagery of up to five physical models or 3D renders of their concept.
