Boral recently launched its 2009 conceptual residential design award program for architects, building designers and architectural students.
The Boral Design Award, previously called A DIFFERENT PITCH, has an expanded brief that covers a whole site rather than just a roof, incorporates a 150sqm family home and its landscape.
Boral Design Award entrants are asked to submit design concepts specified from a selected range of Boral products, including clay bricks, concrete pavers, retaining walls, roof tiles and timber. Boral Design Award submissions must demonstrate a commitment to sustainable design principles.
Boral General Manager of Marketing & Sales, Glenn Simpkin, said the Boral Design Award strives to promote innovative concepts in realistic residential design and an exploration of the full potential of Boral products. The winning Boral Design Award entries in the professional and student categories will be awarded cash prizes.
Industry representatives that make up this year’s jury include Drew Heath of Drew Heath Architects in Sydney, Nick Drougas from Stocklands in Melbourne, James Russell of James Russell Architects in Brisbane, Glenn Simpkin from Boral and Jury Chair Andrew Mackenzie, editor-in-chief of Architectural Review magazine.
Submissions for the Boral Design Award must include a written component and digital imagery of up to five physical models or 3D renders of the concept.
