Black & Decker has fired up the second generation of its best-selling FireStorm™ High Performance Cordless Drill/Drivers with innovation features that boost performance and improve handling.
The new high-powered line-up includes 18, 14.4 and 12 volt drill/drivers that offer faster drilling with a new Quick Connect™ Bit Change System, electronic level, Infinite Clutch™, two-position gear box and more torque than the competition.
"The patented Quick Connect™ Bit Change System, exclusive to the new FireStorm™ drills, speeds up drilling by allowing you to drill holes and drive screws without changing a single accessory," said Mark Smith, director of marketing, consumer products. This new System features a removable 3/8" keyless chuck that accepts both round and hex shank drill bits.
To help with straight and level drilling, the new FireStorm™ drills also have an electronic level built into the end of the drill. When the drill is in a level position the LED display lights up. Rather than having to keep watch of a bubble leveller, the new LED level indicator can be seen in your peripheral vision allowing you to stay focused on your work instead.
Another exclusive feature is the Infinite Clutch™, which offers a spectrum of 32 clutch settings selected by a visual reference guide of screw size. Unlike standard clutches with numbers indicating clutch position, the new Infinite Clutch™ brings relevance to the task by displaying screw icons to indicate the proper setting for driving different sizes of screws.
For easier attachment and removal, the battery has been redesigned with a new “spring-loaded” pack, which springs forward like a cassette with the push of a button, and then easily slides off. Useful state-of-charge indicators have also been added to the new FireStorm™ line. The new FireStorm™ range is ergonomically balanced with a mid-handle design. A specially designed rubber comfort grip with finger rests forms to one's hand for better gripping.
For added convenience, the new drills are sold in an innovative storage box that mounts to the wall with clips to hold the drill and charger in place when not in use. The storage box is also designed to hold additional tools such as screwdrivers, pliers and accessories (sold separately) to keep all your essentials in one convenient location.
