door locks">Bio Recognition Systems (BRS) have signed a distribution deal with General Lock to represent BRS’ fingerprint recognition door locks in the USA, Canada and Mexico markets.
The three-year contract, with a minimum value of several million dollars, gives BRS a high-profile, national distribution channel and premier positioning as the only biometric door lock in the USA.
Under the terms of the exclusive distribution arrangement, BRS’ BioLock+ fingerprint recognition lock will be re-branded under General Lock’s private label, Helix 100 and distributed by Clark Security Products.
BRS’ BioLock+ won recognition at ‘The Security Summit’, the US’ high profile security professionals’ annual conference in California, in June 2008.
At the Security Summit, a panel of senior executives from the security industry, judged the Australian designed and manufactured BioLock+ as the ‘Most Innovative Security Product’ in the sensor category.
Marshall Merrifield, President, General Lock, had acknowledged the technology as “ground-breaking” and was confident that the technology would underpin a new market for fingerprint biometric locks in general, residential and commercial use across North America.
Discussions commenced between General Lock and BRS about distributing the product in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Following initial discussions, General Lock engineers subjected the BioLock+ locks to thorough testing. Subsequently, several units were installed at General Lock’s own offices in San Diego and the distribution deal was confirmed.
According to General Lock, BioLock+ resolved all the issues that were blocking take up of biometric locks. In addition, it is a better designed unit that is suitable for commercial and domestic settings.
Spending on security has not declined and personal security is an ongoing priority. The BioLock+ incorporates significant benefits, such as the ability to operate completely stand-alone, with all functions controlled from the unit, or networked for multiple doors to a PC.
The unit supports 30 to 50 finger templates and 20,000 log transactions in stand-alone mode (80 to 100 templates and log transactions in network mode) along with a range of optional programmes, such as duress, man-trap and lock-out mode.
The following are the benefits of the BioLock+:
- Simple to use
- Keyless entry
- Reliable and robust
- Weatherproof and dustproof (IP65 Certified), so can be used outside and also in harsh environments and temperatures (-18°C to 50°C)
- Attractive zinc alloy design and provision for consumers to choose their own door hardware
- Suits domestic or office use.
