The World Architecture Festival (WAF) judging panel has recently selected its shortlist candidates, and among them are five projects designed by BVN Architecture .
These five projects encompass a hospital, student housing complex, gymnasium, corporate workplace and a display house for tree kangaroos.
Robina Hospital in Queensland has been shortlisted in the health category, and has already received numerous awards, including the Australian Institute of Architects ‘Building of the Year’ award, for its contribution to health design.
BVN played an integral role in the design of Monash University’s newest student housing precinct, situated at its Clayton campus in Melbourne, Victoria.
This shortlisted building project accommodates 600 students in a collegiate setting, and it was recently recognised at the Victorian Architecture Awards.
A large scale gymnasium situated on the Creswell Naval Base is also among the shortlisted projects. This building was designed in a manner that minimises environmental impact and maintains the natural beauty of the site.
The project has already received an Institute of Architect’s award that puts it on the shortlist for a National Architecture Award.
AECOM’s new Sydney workplace has also been shortlisted for the awards. This new building uses two distinctly different stair types to connect the company’s 850 employees. They are spread out over nine floors in two discontinuous stacks of a high rise city building.
The purpose designed display houses for Taronga’s tree kangaroos, which have greatly improved the habitat for the animals and the viewing experience for the visiting public, is the company’s fifth shortlisted project.
The World Architecture Festival will run from October 3-5 in Singapore.
