Located in Broadbeach, the Gold Coast, the new Broadbeach on the Park holiday resort was built with a focus on quality, extending to the materials used such as the waterproofing membranes installed throughout the apartments’ wet areas and around the outdoor garden areas and facilities such as the pool and spa.
Specified were two specialty waterproofing membranes from Degussa Construction Chemicals - Sonoshield HLM 5000 and Masterseal 556.
The former was used throughout the building’s balconies, planter boxes and outdoor recreational areas..Available in a variety of grades, Sonoshield HLM 5000 is a cold-applied, single component bitumen-modified moisture curing polyurethane, developed to provide the strength and flexibility required to handle nominal expansion and contraction with substrates.
Meanwhile, waterproofing throughout the internal wet areas was achieved using Masterseal 556, a cementitious waterproofing membrane that utilises polymers, cements and fine fillers, together with fibre reinforcement to achieve a flexible waterproofing membrane barrier for use under tiles in internal areas.
