When designing two new classrooms, for Bayfield primary school in Herne Bay, architect Brian Trubovich understood he needed a floor covering that tough, long lasting but also comfortable.
Education is one of the toughest environments for floor coverings. Trubovich needed a classroom carpet that could withstand the rigours of the school environment while continue to look good for many years to come.
Autex Avondale carpet was the ideal choice due to its closed-cell polypropylene fibre, which makes it easy to clean, resistant to moisture and staining and won’t zip or fray. The Avondale carpet features a smart fine loop pile look and is needle-punched rather than woven.
“Avondale is a perfect classroom carpet,” said Trubovich. “It’s extremely hardwearing, comfortable for children to sit on and it won’t zip or run if the kids pull at it.”
Avondale’s non-fray construction allowed Trubovich to create cut-in entrance mats, which were made from Autex heavy-duty ribbed carpet Decord and were designed to clean the primary students’ shoes as they enter the classroom.
Trubovich also combined the Avondale carpet with Autex acoustic wall covering Composition in order to significantly reduce reverberated classroom noise. Both the Autex products also offered a wide range of colours, which provided the architect with plenty of bright colours and neutrals to create the perfect look in the students’ classroom.
Autex’s product range had helped Brian Trubovich provide a warm, inviting, child-friendly classroom that is ideal for both teaching and learning.
