This year’s Australian International Design Award finalists include a range of heavy machinery, including a motor grader, hydraulic drive system and a screening and recycling attachment. The Australian International Design Awards recognise products for their design merit, quality and innovation.
In March, 115 shortlisted products were judged by a panel of Australian and international judges. The final 73, including three products from the Heavy Machinery category, all have the potential win the Australian International Design Award of the Year or receive an Australian International Design Award or Australian International Design Mark.
Stephanie Watson, Program Director of the Australian International Design Awards, said that the standard of entry for the 2009 competition has been very high.
Heavy Machinery finalists in the 2009 Australian International Design Awards are:
Caterpillar M-Series Motor Grader: A motor grader with applications including heavy construction, road maintenance, forestry and mining. Designed by Caterpillar Inc.
I-Drive: A high capacity, compact, hydraulic drive system for the drilling, construction and earthmoving industries. Its primary use is to efficiently convert high capacities of hydraulic flow and pressure into rotational torque without the need for a case drain, complex hosing or filtration. Designed by Digga Australia (Yatala, Queensland).
S30 Flip Screen: A revolutionary screening and recycling attachment used to separate material in industries such as construction, demolition, civil works, steel recycling, waste transfer and quarries. Designed by Flip Screen Australia (Wagga Wagga, NSW).
Winners will be announced at the Presentation Night in Melbourne on Friday 29 May, 2009.
