Australian Disabled Access Consultants was instrumental in arranging disabled access and related facilities within a retail shop and commercial offices complex in the Eastwood Shopping Centre at 243 Rowe Street. Its aim was to improve disabled persons access and employment opportunities within the ground floor retail shop and first floor business suites.
Australian Disabled Access Consultants provided design advice to require disabled persons access and parking space compliance with Ryde City Council’s disabled access code and Australian Standards design guidelines and prepared the development application’s (DA) access assessment report.
The design advice will ensure improved disabled persons access into and within the building and enable disabled persons employment that could not otherwise be considered by the building’s original traditional building design constraints.
Australian Disabled Access Consultants applauds Ryde City Council for its helpful staff services and active disabled access strategies demonstrated by this expedited DA approval and support of a local property owner’s voluntary provision of disabled access within an old retail shop building to improve access and employment opportunities within the Eastwood Shopping Centre.
Ryde City Council has again set the standard for supporting disabled access within its employment precincts in line with the guiding principles of the Disabilities Discrimination Act 1992 and promoting its Disabled Access Development Control Plan 37 design guidelines.
Australian Disabled Access Consultants congratulates Planspec Building Designers of Eastwood for its innovative building design techniques to provide disabled access within these business premises to improve disabled persons access and employment opportunities that are currently available within the smaller older style retail and commercial premises.
