With the new government rebate, 2.9 million Australian homes can now install free ceiling insulation. Ceiling insulation prevents hot air leaving the roof, but does nothing to stop heat lost from the walls and floor. A draughty floor can render ceiling insulation almost useless, as cold air blows up through the floorboards.

Austech offer Expol underfloor insulation, which is designed to dramatically improve energy efficiency and reduce heat transfer from the floor. Expol underfloor insulation has an R-Value of 1.4, which exceeds the current recommended R-Value for timber floors. The innovative air pocket in Expol underfloor insulation keeps a layer of air trapped, preventing temperature transfer, and eliminating draughts that enable hot air to escape and let in damp air from under the home.

All panels of Expol underfloor insulation are concertina cut on both sides to allow for a compression of up to 20mm, enabling easy installation and ensuring a snug fit between the joists. Expol underfloor insulation is designed so that it can be easily installed by the homeowner.

Expol underfloor insulation comes in flame retardant polystyrene panels that are 1.2 metres long and 55mm thick. Expol underfloor insulation is produced in four standard widths that fit between most standard joists easily, so Expol is ideal for both new homes and retro-fitting into existing homes.
