Arrowform has condemned contractors accused of substandard insulation fit-outs, saying that their behaviour is endangering the community.
With a large number of homes reportedly having experienced the devastating effects of ceiling fires already in recent months, Arrowform is particularly concerned at a number of practices reported in today’s media coverage of the widespread rorting of the federal government’s ceiling installation program.
A caller to a local radio program said he had experienced contractors installing insulation over the top of the halogen lights inside his ceiling. The Australian Standard requires halogen lighting to be completely isolated from insulation, timber, and loose build-up in ceilings, as it can reach ignition temperatures of up to 300°C.
Arrowform is the local manufacturer of Isolite fire-resistant downlight protectors, which are designed to enclose halogen downlights to prevent ceiling fires and enhance the energy efficiency of ceilings.
Recently, the government announced that Isolite fire-resistant downlight protectors, approved to Australian Standards, would be covered under the Home Insulation rebate program.
