New from Amber Tiles is a brilliant glazed porcelain copy of large 450 x 450mm limestone tiles that has been developed in both an indoor and outdoor version. Clever apartment and home owners are using one in the living area and the other in the adjacent balcony or courtyard with the combination creating the illusion of a much larger, more open space.
The outdoor version of this tile, called Acropolis Bianco, features a ‘grip’ finish which gives added slip-resistance, although both versions look identical. Manufactured using the glazed vitrified technique, the tiles feature all the random undulations of the real thing while costing a fraction of actual limestone.
Available in both a warm white colour and a soft sand, the tiles come in three sizes - 450 x450mm, 315x 315mm and 155x155mm. Each tile has ‘pillowed’ edges which emulate the uneven edge achieved when a tile is hand hewn from stone.
