Amber tiles target home safety
A new and unexpected trend has emerged in the renovation market due to Australia’s ageing population.
Leading tile supplier, Amber , has reported a significant increase in requests for safety tiling suitable for older and/or infirm residents. The company says ‘empty nesters’ are considering their future needs when downsizing or renovating their home after their children have moved out. And one of the most frequent requests is for a flooring that has a higher slip resistance and can be easily maintained.
Amber has responded by sourcing a vast range of slip-resistant tiles for both interior and exterior installations. And while exact replicas of stone, in warm creams and earthy neutrals, have proved most popular to date, a new look that has gained immediate popularity in the slip resistant arena is the full-bodied porcelain Isis Marron Series.
This range offers a completely integrated approach to surfaces – it comprises both floor and wall tiles in identical colours and sizes plus an external floor version with higher slip-resistance.
The Isis Marron external floor tiles have an extremely high R11 slip-resistance rating and are available in a beautifully textured rockface finish, Amber says. The internal tiles are available in a matt version for floors and walls plus a polished format for walls.
The Isis Marron Series retails for $52.95 a square metre for the matt 300x300mm and $75.95 for the polished version. The 300x600mm rectangular format polished wall tiles retail for $75.95 a square metre and the rockface finish 300x600mm external floor tiles retail for $58.95.
