Caleffi 534 series flow restrictors
Flow restrictors are often used in domestic plumbing systems as water saving devices. They are normally used on bath or shower outlets to restrict water flow to 9 or 12 litres per minute.
To foster water conservation, State governments are now encouraging the installation of rainwater tanks to supply laundries and toilets. However, if a rainwater tank is used as an auxiliary source of supply, a number of water authorities are trying to discourage refilling water tanks from the mains supply.
If a rainwater tank is connected to the mains for refilling purposes, the water authorities are demanding that a two litres per minute flow restrictor is incorporated into the system.
For many, the two litres per minute flow restrictor has proved difficult to find. However, All Valve Industries has the Caleffi 534 series flow restrictors in plentiful supply. The Caleffi 534 series Flow Restrictors have a maximum pressure rating of 1200kPa and are made of chrome plated brass.
As regulations vary, ask if these are a requirement in your area if installing a rainwater tank.
