Adshel plants its first 800 trees in the iconic Daintree Rainforest

Adshel Tree Planting Project
Continuing on its commitment made in 2007 to plant 10,000 trees in the Daintree Rainforest, Adshel has launched its official Tree Planting Project, sending two staff members to Cape Tribulation to help put the trees in the ground and participate in the community planting initiative.
More than 800 trees were planted at the local community event held on 17 February, organised by Adshel’s partner in this project, Rainforest Rescue.
Over 20 local participants volunteered along with Adshel’s two staff members, to plant the first instalment of Adshel’s 10,000 trees. An additional two plantings are scheduled for this year, with the whole project being completed early 2009.
To celebrate its 10th Anniversary last year, Adshel established a partnership with Rainforest Rescue to plant 10,000 trees through their Plant a Rainforest Project on behalf of staff, clients and councils, matching the number of urban structures Adshel has built across Australia.
The Adshel Tree Planting Project allows up to 220,000kg of carbondioxide to be offset each year and ensures Adshel pioneers responsibility towards the environment we operate in.
Lauren Hamilton, Adshel staff member who attended the planting, said: “I found it really inspiring to see what Rainforest Rescue are doing to both turn back the clock and protect the existing rainforest.”
“I had a great day and was really happy to see so many local people turn out to help us plant the first 800 of the 10,000 trees Adshel have committed to funding in the Daintree,” added Lauren Hamilton.
