Adshel Infrastructure constructs Lane Cove bus interchange

Lane Cove bus interchange

Adshel Infrastructure , in partnership with the Lane Cove Tunnel Project (Thiess John Holland Joint Venture) and Lane Cove Council, recently completed a significant infrastructure project in Lane Cove, to deliver a 22m double cantilever (2 x 1.6 metre spans) walkway shelter as part of the new bus interchange on Epping Road.

The project also included the installation of four free standing Evo bus shelters. The walkway shelters are designed with strong linear quality, made from powder coated aluminium with integrated courtesy lighting and internal drainage ensuring they enhance rather than impede the current urban landscape.

The roof, rear and wind break panels are made from toughened safety glass, providing commuters protection from the sun, wind and rain.

Adshel walkway shelters are modular in construction and can be adapted to meet the needs of various platform/footpath configurations, including the ability to function as a single sided shelter if needed in narrow streets.

Shane Watkins, Adshel Infrastructure director, says, “Adshel is happy to be part of this major infrastructure project in Sydney. The Lane Cove bus interchange is Adshel’s most significant projects in NSW and comes after a major walkway installation in Adelaide’s CBD, providing Sydney with an ideal, environmentally savvy, long term shelter solution for the community.”

Steve Mizzi, senior project engineer, Lane Cove Tunnel Project, says, “Throughout the design, fabrication and installation phases of the project, Adshel proved to be a provider of high quality infrastructure products and conducted themselves in a professional manner.”

Adshel Infrastructure walkway shelters are designed to withstand wear and tear within high use urban environments. The walkway shelter design utilises hardwearing materials such as steel, stone and tinted, toughened glass, which are also easy to maintain.

The construction detailing of the shelter is such that all the members and joints can be crafted to achieve a well-honed fully integrated end product.

Stainless steel frame and Jarrah slatted seats are proposed to provide the warm comfortable feel achieved by this material.
