Local NSW Councils are investigating Semi-Permeable Paving alternatives to construct all future footpaths and shared pathways across Local Government Areas.

Semi-Permeable Paving solutions are being explored due to their many environmental and economic benefits.

The concept of semi-permeable paving is already well-established in many countries where urban development threatens already over-stretched drainage and river systems. As more land is developed and covered with impervious surfaces, stormwater and river systems are under increasing pressure to manage the high volumes of surface run-off entering them.

As an alternative to conventional paving, Adbri Masonry ’s Permeable Paving range, including the Ecotrihex™ system all have permeable qualities that encourage water flow through the pavement surface and substructure to the ground below.

A permeable drainage layer below the pavers allows water to infiltrate into the subgrade or to be drained to a suitable designated location. This will ultimately give the potential to enable surrounding vegetation to benefit, whilst also decreasing the effect of flooding in certain areas.
