A shopping centre is currently undergoing major construction works. Part of these works entailed the facility having to cut mains power from the energy grid, meaning that the shopping centre would have to source alternative power through diesel generators.
Any loss of power to the shopping centre could potentially cause major interruptions to the centre’s operation, loss of trade and also loss of refrigerated stock. It was therefore critical that the generators supplied be capable of maintaining an uninterrupted power supply to all equipment and that the generators be regularly refuelled and monitored.
The need to supply the generators was unplanned and had to be arranged with less than a week notice. Active Power Management, a division of Active Air Rentals , responded by sending a technician to the site to assess what size generators would be required as well as the logistics of where the generators would be placed and how the generators would feed into the switch boards.
The 500KVA generator was installed with a 3000L external diesel fuel tank, with the load it was running under the fuel tank had to be refuelled every 24 hours.
