Five winners and six commendations were announced at the 2014 International Architecture Awards held by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA).

Chosen from a field of 24 entries, the winners were for the first time recognised in project categories, which span public, residential, commercial, interior and small project architecture.

Denton Corker Marshall’s Stonehenge Exhibition + Visitor Centre won the Award for Public Architecture, praised by jury chair and 2013 Institute Gold Medallist Peter Wilson for doing justice to the UNESCO World Heritage site.

“Its lightness and reversibility [gives] dignity to the solidity and timelessness of the standing stones 2.4 km away beyond the horizon,” Wilson said.
